Will Jones is the 18 year old guitar phenom who blasts away with his renown flatpicking.  Young Will has been playing professionally since he was seven years old and his accomplishments read like a much older veteran.  The guitar prowess of Will was the focus of a featured article in the acclaimed "Flatpicking Guitar Magazine"wherein Will was proclaimed by the editors to be the guitar hero for his generation.  Will's composition "Cash's Last Ride", inspired by his sharing of the stage with Johnny Cash at Cash's last public performance ever was included in the magazine in musical transcription and a sampler CD.  Fans may remember Will performing with Chris Thile and the bluegrass allstars at the IBMA awards show. When he was eleven Will was featured on HBO in their special on child musical prodigies.  Will is a great singer on harmony and lead vocals.

Laura Leigh Jones has been recognized as one of the emerging vocalists in this genre.  She is a fun and stylish mandolin player and overall great entertainer.  Watch out for her original songs which just might have a bit of good humored girl power. Laura Leigh is 21 years old, another of Phillip's kids and considered to be an artist on the rise.  With a wall full of awards and shelf sagging with trophies, Laura Leigh also has her own solo CD which is an acoustic honorarium to Dolly Parton.  This tribute album, Parton Me, can also be purchased at the Cana Rambler's web site.  Dolly has written and personally complimented Laura Leigh and this project. Laura Leigh has two degrees from Va. Tech.

Phillip Jones is the father of five, three of whom are his bandmates, and is the primary songwriter for the band.  It is fun to consider that Phillip is a trial lawyer and therefore a word smith in both his day job and for his band.  Phillip has performed in bluegrass bands for most of his life, and his influence on his kids is reflected in this band.  The Dad is featured on lead singing, harmony singing and an occasional guitar solo just to keep Will honest.  Phillip's concept for this band is to feature four lead singers in rotation, harmonies in every combination, hot picking and a blend of classic and original material.

Ashley Jones is the Bass player for the band.   Ashley is tall and blonde and plays an upright acoustic bass, which is also tall and blonde.  Her bass work on her 1955 Kay M1B ("B" is literally the factory reference to "Blonde" for the golden color of the instrument)  is impressive, but her vocal work keeps the audience smiling along with her.   The eldest of Phillip's five children, Ashley is the timing guru who gives the band their tight sound.   Ashley is also a scientist – literally.  To finance her bluegrass habit, Ashley is a medical researcher with degrees from Va. Tech.  Can't you hear her singing around the laboratory?

Rick Allred is the legend of the group.   Anyone who has followed bluegrass music knows of this great musician.  From the Grand Ol Opry to the famed Country Gentlemen to Summer Wages to Larry Sparks and Larry Stephenson and performing on more than 75 professional recordings, this versatile musician is the amazing banjo player for The Cana Ramblers.  Rick also plays guitar, bass, dobro and, of course, his primary instrument, the mandolin.  Watch out!  Just when you see him as the banjo player – there he is, singing a harmony part whenever needed.

THE CANA RAMBLERS is considered a must see act.  It is a fun show, and the Jones gang and Rick want to see you there at their next show. Come on out.
